The short version

Two honest answers.

SMS-Activate sold one-time verification codes: you picked a service and a country, paid a few cents to a few dollars, and read a single code on a number from a shared SIM pool. Rentals by the day or the week existed for a subset of countries. Payment by card and several cryptocurrencies; no identity required. It was the largest of its kind.

Status note. SMS-Activate announced it was closing in December 2025 and pointed customers to a successor service. Several independent trackers reported the notice; the figures below describe the service as it operated.

  • Price per code. For a one-off signup on a service that accepts the country, a marketplace code costs a fraction of a monthly line.
  • Breadth. Hundreds of services and countries, with live availability per pair.
  • An API that most automation tooling already spoke.

Where NoKYCPhone differs

  • The number is yours. A code from a pool cannot be used for recovery, re-verification or a new device. A dedicated line can, for as long as you renew.
  • Nothing about you. No e-mail address at any step; a random access key opens the panel.
  • Calls, voicemail and outbound SMS on the same number, not an inbox of codes.
  • Price model. A month of a dedicated line costs more than one code and less than a handful of them. Ten codes on ten different services in a month is where the two cross.

Is SMS-Activate still working?

It announced its closure in December 2025 and pointed customers to a successor service. We describe it here because people still search for an alternative; check its site for the current status.

Is NoKYCPhone cheaper than SMS-Activate?

Per code, no. Per account you intend to keep, yes: a monthly line replaces every future code on that account, plus calls and voicemail, for one price.

Can I move accounts from a marketplace number to a NoKYCPhone number?

Only by changing the number inside each account, which most services allow when you are logged in. A marketplace number cannot be transferred: it was never yours.

Does NoKYCPhone have an API like SMS-Activate?

Yes: order lines, read inboxes with the code extracted, send SMS, and receive every inbound message on a signed webhook. Rate limits and examples are on the API page.

Which countries do you both cover?

Ours are 47, chosen for acceptance and stability, each with real prefixes listed. A marketplace lists many more, at very different acceptance rates.
