What Signal checks
Signal verifies the number with an SMS code, or a voice call if you ask for it. It is known for refusing ranges that public databases classify as virtual, so the line has to be a genuine mobile allocation — which is what we sell. Fixed lines usually do not get a code.
- No later re-check on a schedule. Once registered, Signal does not re-verify the number unless you re-register the device.
- Usernames. Since usernames arrived, nobody needs your number to reach you. Set one, then switch Who can find me by number to Nobody, and the line is purely a registration detail.
- Registration Lock. A PIN that anyone re-registering that number would have to know. It is the difference between a second number being safe and being a liability.
Which line and country to pick
Take a mobile line from a well-accepted range — Germany, the Netherlands or Canada in our experience. Signal is pickier than Telegram about cheap ranges, and a refused range is not worth the saving.
Order of operations that works. Register with the code, set the Registration Lock PIN, set a username, turn number discovery off, then give people the username. Ten minutes, and the number never appears anywhere again.
Step by step
- Pick the line. Choose a mobile line in Germany or another recommended country. The exact price, activation included, is shown before you pay.
- Pay in crypto. Send any of 8 cryptocurrencies to a one-time deposit address. The line is live about a minute after the payment confirms; no e-mail, no document.
- Enter the number in Signal. Type the number where Signal asks for it and request the code — by SMS, or by voice call if offered.
- Read the code in the panel. The SMS lands in your inbox with the code extracted and copyable; a voice call is answered by the voicemail and transcribed. Developers get it on a webhook.
- Lock the account. Set Registration Lock (PIN) so the account does not depend on the number alone.
If Signal refuses the number. It is the range, not the line. Ask for a swap — free within 7 days — and you get a number from a different carrier block, with the remaining period carried over.
Keeping the account
- Registration Lock, always. Without it, anyone who later holds that number can register it and takes over your safety numbers with your contacts. With it, they cannot.
- Keep the line paid if you may ever need to re-register — a new phone, a reinstall. Signal will send the code to the number.
- Group links and stories may still reveal the number to people you interact with unless discovery is off. Check the setting once.

Questions
Does Signal work with a virtual number?
Yes, on a real mobile allocation. Signal refuses ranges classified as virtual in public databases, so shared or recycled numbers fail; a dedicated mobile line from a trusted country passes.
Can I hide my number on Signal?
Yes. Set a username, then set “Who can find me by number” to Nobody. Nobody needs the number to message you, and it is not shown in chats.
What is Registration Lock and why does it matter here?
A PIN required to register the number on a new device. It stops whoever holds the number after you from taking the account. Turn it on right after signup.
Will Signal ask for the number again later?
Only when you re-register — a new phone or a reinstall. As long as you hold the line, the code arrives in your panel like the first one did.
Can I use a landline for Signal?
No. Signal sends codes to mobile ranges; fixed lines usually get nothing. Take a mobile line.
