What Airbnb checks
Airbnb verifies with an SMS code or a voice call, so a landline works. The number is a required profile item, used for login codes and shared with your host or guest after confirmation. Airbnb also runs a separate identity check with a document for some bookings and for hosting; the number plays no part in it.

Which line and country to pick
A landline is enough and reads well to hosts; a mobile line if the number will also serve messengers. Pick the country where you travel or host most — the United States, the United Kingdom or France.
Step by step
- Pick the line. Choose a mobile or landline number in United States or another recommended country. The exact price, activation included, is shown before you pay.
- Pay in crypto. Send any of 8 cryptocurrencies to a one-time deposit address. The line is live about a minute after the payment confirms; no e-mail, no document.
- Enter the number in Airbnb. Type the number where Airbnb asks for it and request the code — by SMS, or by voice call if offered.
- Read the code in the panel. The SMS lands in your inbox with the code extracted and copyable; a voice call is answered by the voicemail and transcribed. Developers get it on a webhook.
- Lock the account. Set Keep the line; identity checks are separate so the account does not depend on the number alone.
If Airbnb refuses the number. It is the range, not the line. Ask for a swap — free within 7 days — and you get a number from a different carrier block, with the remaining period carried over.

- Keep the line while you have bookings ahead: the host will call it.
- Voicemail transcription in the panel means a missed check-in call is still readable.
- Identity checks are separate; the number does not replace a document when Airbnb asks for one.
